Stripped Halidex Drain Plug --- $750
The threads on the hole were shot. I tried the oversided drain plug, drill and tap and looked into getting a bung welded on. Ended up just replaceing the houseing. Parts and labor comes to a total of $750 at a non-dealer repair shop. Good thing I have an after market warranty that covers it and I only have to pay $200 for all new parts. Heh heh. I win (for once)!!
wait... you got a replacement haldex shell? Like, transfer the 'guts' to a new casing?
I called/searched forever to try to get JUST a Haldex LSC when mine went bad, only options I ever heard were LSC attached to differential for about $750, or a brand new LSC/Diff from Audi for $3000.
Where'd you get your parts?

Yes. It's just the case. $400 for parts. I'm not sure where the dealer got them from though. All I know is the parts are/were in Texas and need to be shipped to my area. I assume the parts are new, because this is a high end dealer (who is working on a brand new 911 turbo now). I'll let you know any more details, if I found them out.
yeah, thats interesting.
i ended up getting a used unit from a audi tech that stashed an unclaimed, misdiagnosed unit. almost new. paid $500, i can sell the stock controller and almost make my money back if i want.

Would it be possible to weld a little nut ontop of the Drain Plug ? That way you can use a socket and remove it. While removing my head, the bolt for the manifold stripped. Ran to 5 different stores to try n find something that will remove it.. No luck, so in the end we just welded a nut ontop of the bolt..
