Thats still WAY to much piping for me. About 3-5' more than the tuner-stop kit. If someones a math wiz, they can find out how much more space you need to fill to get the same amount of pressure.

I read this post and wanted to chime in.
The vw install of the ebay FMIC and the first charge pipe looks a little better because his strut tower bar only is mounted on the shock tower. In the TT there are 4 points at which it ties into the body(shock towers and firewall) Due to the firewall mounts, the first charge pipe(off the turbo) couldnt fully rotate under the strut bar because the pipe hits the mount. I had 2 choices, cut some of the pipe or cut the mount off the strut bar. I figured that cutting the pipe was the better choice was. The diverter valve hose would have fit just like the VW setup. Unfortunately, mine is bunched up and the hose is a little mangled.
Lastly, its a pretty large intercooler. The big side is tucked under the bumper. The end tank pipe ouletsare offset on the IC, about 1/3 way up from the bottom.
Maybe someone can answer....can you run the diverter valve backwards like that VW ebay FMIC setup??

the forge 007 DV instructions that came with it say "we suggest the DV be installed in the same fashion as the OEM if quiter operation is desired" so by that tolken i assume yes.

Hey guys, there was a lot of discussion and also questions regarding our 180 FMIC kit within this thread -- I don't have time to sift through it all nor am I probably allowed to respond much since we don't advertise here. If you have questions regarding the kit please don't hesitate to contact me via email.

More information on the kit can also be found here http://www.tcarbon.com/product_info.php?products_id=313

You can run your dv reversed. Forge just prefers you dont. But if you can run it one way, it will fit the other.

Tylor, if you want to post something, go for it, the mods never come here.

You are obviously entitled to your opinion though I'm not sure where you're getting your numbers from nor do I think they're accurate. Obviously added volume means more volume for the turbo to fill, however, the turbo pushes a lot of air and the added volume is nearly negligible. It's such a small difference that it can barely be calculated, the spool is < 100 rpms later, it's not noticable.

I'm not sure why you would prefer a kit that isn't even made for the car, requires trimming, you have to make your own brackets, smaller core, is the MAP sensor welded on or do you do that as well?, and all in all looks like a painful install -- it's not meant for the TT.

You can't argue which install is "cleaner":

If you would like to discuss the kit with me further please do it VIA e-mail.

Im not the person you need to convince. If you want my input, an apr/evom style setup is the only way to go if you wish to keep the stock piping to the ic and TB. I prefer tonot run piping acrossthe front of my car twice and add the extra unneeded piping and volume for a turbo to fill.

Can't speak for the 180 kit. However, I've had the 225 kit on for quite some time and done business with tylor and had a ton of correspondence with him as well. The 225 kit fits well with no additional piping, overall weight isonly increased by 8lb (4 lbs on mine since I removed grille and aliens and alien brackets)once you pull the SMICs, and it performs well above my expectations. Additionally, tylor was friggin quick to resolve any questions or issues I had. (The only Issue I really had was hose color. lmfao DAMNIT... NO GREEN HOSE IN STOCK haha)
