Default Temp Gauge - 2005 TT 1.8 100Kmiles

I test drove a 2005 TT today with 110K miles. Decent shape being a bank repo. My only major concern was -
the temp gauge was constantly registering one notch below H. Where does the temp gauge usually run on a TT?
Thanks in advance,
David

Vertical is normal. Reading low may be a thermostat stuck open, or a faulty gauge in the cluster (common problem, $900 repair). MAKE SURE the car has had a timing belt replacement with tensioner and water pump. They need to be replaced every 60k miles. Ignore ANYONE that says that isn't true - they do NOT know the TT history!

Default 2005 tt

I bought the CARFAX report on the TT. The major repairs noted were-
42K miles - Battery replaced, Brake Fluid flushed/changed
98K miles - Thermostat replaced
101K miles - maint inspection completed, found out today that this service included a timing belt/water pump replacement!!

The above were done at a Audi dealer.

Current miles - 110K

Thanks, David

Purchase tomorrow - the 2005 TT. It is about 100 miles from home so should have fun driving it back - hope no speeding tickets!
