Thinking about buying an 08 TT
i drove the shi$t out of the new TTs on a race track in IL..autobaun raceway and those things are very nice....the interior is very sexy...just a more modern facelift compared to the MARK I TT and that DSG is one hell of a tranny shifts are nice and much quicker than ANY human can shift with the true manual. handles like your glued to the ground and believe me i tested it a lot in the apex of turns.....for a N/A i like it....now the 2.0 T quattro sounds even better
well one reason why I wanted the TT is bec, if they had one in my color here in germany, I could get it now, if not I would have to wait at least 12 wks or more. If that was the case, i would go back to my orig plan and just get a loaded A5 S-line. We prob won't be here too much longer. If I could get the TT now, I could drive it around enough to avoid some new car taxes since it would have miles on it. I would still perfer an S5 over TT-S bec the S5 is bigger with sort of real back seats. But I do agree theTT-S would be a fun car to drive. The only way I would go for a 2.0 is it was quattro and manaul. I do not like the DSG. My wife and I drove it, and we didn't like it at all. Yeah, it is fast in shifting though, but its just not the same to me.
I wish Audi would release their diesels to the US. That 3.0 TDI is an awesome engine and I would gladly pay more of gas if I had that engine. You can't beat the Hp and torque on it. Same for a TT with a diesel.
I figure there are some tuning shops here in germany that could at least put in exhaust. The AWD is important to me for winter. My old quattro coupe was our winter car here, since our toyota tercel didn't do so well in snow hehe. But all feedback is appreciated. I could deal with not putting in a chip. I think the quad exhausts look cool and make the car sound a bit better on the 3.0. I am going back there monday to do more test driving.

Yeah it prob is less performance wise, but you can't beat the gas mileage!! Same for the A5 3.0TDI, it didn't have a lot of hp like the S5 or the 3.2L gas engine, but man, in 3rd gear that turbo kicked in.. and you were GONE!!! I just read that the Q7, A4, and new Q5 will be offered as diesels in 09 sometime (the Q5 will be a 3.2L with 270hp, and also offered as a hybrid before diesel). I would really prefer a diesel.. trust me, after driving one around here for a few days, its the way to go.
I wish you guys could drive the diesels here in germany. I think I have seen a lot of the older TTs that are diesel. Most germans buy diesels.. i think its something like 75%.
Sorry to get off topic hehe. Performance isn't a big issue for me. I mean if I wanted performance, id get the 335xi I tested. The Audi A5 didn't go as fast from the get go, but its styling was so much better. Same with the TT.. the Z4 and 350Z nissan could prob do a number on the TT, but id still get the TT based on better build quality and looks.. over performace. If I could get maybe 15-20 more hp out of the 3.2, without spending a whole lot of money, i would do so. Otherwise I could live with it stock.
I think the first mod I would do anyway is put the new headlights in it, and get rid of the ugly orange reflectors. The euro spec lights have always been better. They make a big difference when compared to DOT US spec ones
Maybe the local audi place has some of the new TT-S headlights. Besides, they might not have my color
I am going to check back with the guys on monday.

Its a 2.0TDI and makes 170hp and 258tq while getting 44mpg. A simple chip should easily take it to 200hp and 340tq. With that much tq you dont really have to worry much about hp. Plus it being awd makes you not have to worry about traction.

EXACTLY!!! thats why i think more audi diesels need to come to the states. Even though diesel is more expensive, if you drive your car a lot, I think you would be saving money in the long run. I dunno if anyone in the states has ever heard the TDI engines, but they aren't like the diesels of old (old mercedes cars come to mind). They have more than enough power, and you can go forever on a tank of gas. Maybe in the next few years, we can all enjoy diesels
The mkiv's came in a 1.9L TDI. It only came with 90hp and not sure about tq but got around 45mpg also.
Diesel - $4.50/gal @ 45/gal = $0.10/mile
93oct - $4/gal @ 28mpg = $0.14/mile
That 4cents/mile will sure add up fast when you put some good miles on your car.

yes i totally agree. I would buy a diesel over a hybrid anyday. Maybe my wish will come true and the A5 diesel will come to the states after they put it in the A4. I think they started with the A4 car wise since its one of Audis best sellers. I would gladly get the diesel A5 S-line over the S5. I think diesel is more expensive in germany as well.. i think regular gas is around 8 bucks or more off base... and diesel must be a bit more. It hasn't stopped germans from buying diesels, and I don't blame them one bit
I would rather run E85. Its less than 1/2 the cost of 93 and even though it takes 50% more fuel, its basically 105oct and a renewable resource. Only downfall is that its basically only somewhat available in the midwest. If they didnt have to worry about people drinking it, it could be 100% ethenol and a fully renewable resource and a few moer oct points
I think after 2012, they are going to start to phase out E85 (its in that energy bill). It causes more harm than good in the long run.. something about howits being produced. I can't rememeber the exact reason why, but they will be doing away with it in the near future. We will prob be moving to Ohio, so finding an E85 station wouldn't be too hard, but say in california for instance, there are only 2 stations in the whole state hehe. I see what your sayin though. Ill keep my diesel
