Default Tire size

I am not particularly familiar with tires - but I am buying a set of 18"x8.5" rims to replace the stock 17". Which tire size should I use? 225/40/18 or 235/40/18 ?? or even 245?
Please help. Thanks.
Dave

you can use all three, depends if you want the streched look or a meaty tire.

Very nice rims. The pictures really help me decide how "meaty" I like. Thanks.

Thanks...The new tires are sooooo much more quiet then stocks. I coulda Gone 245x 35's al the way around but the car turns a little easier with skinnier in the front.

I was under the impression that with a Haldex car that you should not run tires of different sizes front to rear. I thought that it was bad for the all wheel drive system.

Yeah it is...U have to be within 5% difference front rear.... Thats why i chose 225 40 front 255 35 rear..... The tire circumference between the two sizes is about 4mm and within 4% of the starting 225 45 17's So my speedo is still dead on... and the two tire sizes though different widths are the same size I searched for days deciding what the closest sizes were
