Default Trunk and Gas Cap Release Both Inoperative

Interesting that both these releases won't operate. I am able to open the trunk though by using the key fob. Is there a common problem here and is there a backup for the gas cap?

yes...

I had this happen to me, your battery might be dying, I replaced my battery with a new one and everything magically worked after that.

manual trunk release is under the cupholder in the coupe you have to lift the rubber in the cupholder and unscrew the screws, there is a release cable in there.

The gas cap release is in the access panel on the right side of the trunk it is labeled, just pull it.

do you have access to a vag cable?

mine was reading low voltage even though it started and ran fine.

I got a new battery, and I didn't try it right away, but the next time I tried it was working.

I'm guessing the battery was the problem, and if it has less than the proper voltage I don't think disconnecting it will help.

Time to do the key dance....

Lock/unlock the car manually with the key a few times (not the remote use the actual key)......see if that works.

I assumed it was the battery since vag said battery too low, then after i replaced it it worked.
