Default Trunk Release

I hate to sound like a moron since that is how I feel.... I recently bought a 2001 A$ Quattro and for the life of me I can't find an interior trunk release. Apparently the Avant cars have one but not mine, can anyone confirm this? If me key worked I wouldn't care that much but it doesn't.... but I only have one and I have to manually unlock my doors/trunk.

well if the doors are unlocked, you can just push the button on the trunk to open it, no need to use the key. i don't think the sedans came with an electric trunk release.

^^^correct. Which makes no sense since the B5 Passat sedan has an electric trunk release on the door panel...

when you want to open the trunk, you simply press up on the driver side door lock,it opens the trunk and front doors.

When you use your flip fob keyless, you press the open lock twice,to open the back doors and the trunk, press open lock once to open the driver and passenger doors.

I changed the settings on my 2001 A4 B5 with my vag-com to open all the doors and the trunk, when i press the open lock once, and lock all the doors and trunk, when i press the closed lock button.

I'm pretty sure,if you just press up twice on the driver side lock,it will unlock the front doors and open the trunk with the stock settings.

I had a Passat before my A4 so I spent my first week looking all over for the release. It does seem crazy that the Passat has it and the A4 doesn't.
