TT Q's And Opinions
Im looking at getting a TT, coupe 225 quattro, now my questions are... How do these perform?
Turning, is it tight or does it feel loose with quite a bit of body roll in higher speed's? Also Does the stock suspension feel "Tight" can you feel the bumps in the road? or is it squishy and plyable?
Off the line launches, does it pull hard once the turbo kicks in or is it Sluggish feeling? does it feel like it wants to GO or mozey along?
Now im asking these questions because iv yet to find a dealer to let me test these types of driving styles on the car. Iv done some research on these cars and found that most people enjoy driving the car but dont say much about the Over all PERFORMANCE of it. so You drivers of the TT that know what its like to launch from 2k or more and those of you who like to do some spirited driving let me know what you think.
Also As far as upgrades go the turbo is the reason im buying the car. So Questions for the ones that have added performance parts.
Downpipes + exaust systems. Do you feel a gain from these or are you left wanting more? if your getting a gain about how much are you "feeling it"
Turbo piping +blowoffs+wastegates, Anyone that has done these kind of mods same question Power gains? and Seat of the pants power gains?
Coilovers+swaybars+polly bushings. Have these helped your Handeling?
Im wondering all this because I really like the options that come with the cars and the over all look. Im alittle worried that overall the performance is going to be lacking. Tell me what you think about your ride performance wise,
Thanks everyone. sorry for the long post and for being a noob on these cars. Iv been in the import seen for awile but just getting into this style of car Thanks again for your OP

The car handles relatively well stock. Mine is a fwd and even with the bit of understeer it still feels like its on rails. Coilovers and swaybar will up this feeling and back the car more neutral.
Chip, exhaust, downpipe all produce a noticable gain and in fact chip and downpipe will give you the best hp, torque gain for the $$.
Launching at 2.5-3.5k will get you off the line in a hurry. Anything lower than that and it is a bit sluggish until the turbo kicks in.

What are you driving up to the dealer in? - What are you wearing when you come in? - How are you presenting yourself?
-Wont let you test drive one? - I walked into the dealership, said I'm interested in an 2004 A8L, walked out with the keys in my hand...kept it for 2 days and bought it.
That noting I bought it, but I'm 23 years old, I just came in as I do to work.....

you really have to just drive one.....take my case for example...i wanted a subaru STI really bad ok...drove one i loved it!!! thought for sure thats what i wanted...saw a TT on a lot 180hp 5 speed quattro...drove it...went in to buy it and they wanted about 8k more than it was worth...it had a few things wrong with it...glovebox broke, smelled like oil burning after driving it etc etc...was looking on Autotrader late one night and found my baby(225hp)...went down to INDY and drove it fell in love....handled better than the STI and looked much better too! i knew that with a few mods it would smoke the STI....(which mine does now) you will love it.....i have test driven a lot...i mean a LOT of cars and the TT is still my FAV...but the new TT drives amazing on the race track too...that magnetic ride supension is whats up.
They're terrible cars... they can't get out of their own way, they smell bad and they handle like a 59' Eldorado Biarritz. That's why we all drive them and post on a forum dedicated to them. We all feel sorry for ourselves and each other.
