Default TT RS stage 1 by APR

Hi folks

According to my local APR dealer, the software cannot be uploaded on-site and the ECU has to be sent to APR. This seems to apply only to the RS, since I had a TTS upgraded in a jiffy just back in autumn.

-What has been the user experiences here with sending an ECU? The dealer said they will remove it for me. Other than the car being down in the meantime, any other downside?
-if the ECU is removed, can that be detected by an Audi dealer? I was less worried with the direct upload, but now tampering with the hardware is making me reconsider for the sake of the warranty.

Appreciate any thoughts...

i would believe any performance modification throwing your car out of performance specifications would void your warranty. they dont make the engines slow on purpose, they tune them so they last as to consumer demands.

it sounds like there going to take your ECU apart and soder a chip in there.

i really have no idea, just my opinion. good luck and enjoy ur RS.

I have the APR tune on mine, no issues, with next day air it was three days turn around. I can't answer about detection, I would believe it is detectable, there is no physical mod to the ECU, APR just doesn't have the interface ready for its dealers.

Thx, guys. Even the stock performance is a blast. Much more zip than the 330 hp my last apr mod'ed tt was outputting. After years of being the underdog, the TT now runs with the big dogs. Whether or not you have the RS, the entire pedigree going back to the first gen has been lifted as a result. Enjoy yr TT!
