Default Turbo Question

1.8L, 225 TT has a rattly sounding Turbo when I let off the gas. Sign of a problem? Does not happen all the time and seems to improve the longer the car is run

Do you mean "rattly" as in "fluttery"?

Like a whish-sh-sh-sh-sh sound? if so your diverter valve is busted.

check the manifold bolts, the dp bolts and the wastegate nut. Most cases its on of those and just needs tightened

There is a sheild attached to the valve cover but its basically a small lip to prevent heat to the coilpack wires. there is also a heat wrap on the chargepipe but neither would make the noise.

THanks for all the advice.

What is the best repair manual I should own for this vehicle?

a bentley manual. You can get a book or cd cheapest from amazon. But if you want just graphs and part numbers, vagcom.com. It gives part numbers also.
