Upgrade of my Audi TT Quattro 2004

HI guys!
I just bought my first TT, a 2004 Quattro Coupe. I would like to upgrade the performance on my vehicle and someone suggested that I replace the intake pipe from the air filter box and replacing the standard valve to a "blow off valve". Can someone give me their input on this?

FAq here is not user friendly. Try the ones at fourtitude.com and audiworld.com. As I recall, both pop up lists of topics rather then you having to think of the "right" search terms.
