Yes to the laptop unless you buy a really long cable or park right next to your desktop. From what I've seen with VAG, no it's not that difficult.

Pretty much, but im not sure what your plans are for the mbc and fpr. Please elaborate further.

Well, I'm planning to chip it, install a boost controler, and a DV. Other than that I'm just going to stick with what I've done so far and when it's time for my timing then I'm thinking about either the APR stage 3 or putting together a stronger kit. I don't see that happening any time soon though.
