Best bet is to see if that the R32's use the same O2M tranny (mkiv r32 forums on vortex). If so, no need to swap trannies. But if not, your going to need a complete drivetrain along with everything else..
I remember from that 3.2L turbo buildup on Vortex that the only difference is the bell housing.

This is what I got from the VR6 page on vortex.

DSG: NO (only 6-speed "traditional" manual stick shift, MQ350 transmission)

I also found out that the 3.2L Audi VR6 and the 3.2L VW VR6 use the same tranny but one uses 6 bolts for the flywheel the other uses 8.

ive personally had my hand in a conversion were we put a r32 motor into a tt 180 quattro. the car was a 2000 so we had to do a headlight to tail light harness swap. its actually a pretty easy swap, we even went as far as to changing the clusters internal ( my buddy stuffed the r32 cluster internals into the tt cluster, looks weird with the blue guages though..). if you car is 2002 or newer the conversion is easier. you just need a immobiliser defeat and the wiring goes straight into the factory plenum. no mounts have to be fabricated adjusted or anything. the flywheels are different thats it. the only thing i dont know about this conversion is would the haldex work, i think it should but it could easily not. trying to hardwire in the haldex would be near impossible, hence the reason we did headlight to tailight harness conversion on that other car. but you can always go standalone haldex controller. now if you go with any old skool 2.8 vr6 whether it be 12v or 24v, you will just have to hardwire in everything. the tranny's will bolt up. again you would need the haldex controller, there will be no possible way of getting haldex to work with that harness. personally i have always really wanted to put the old 12v vr6 in my tt and slap a huge turbo on it. unfortunately it would be bad for biz cause i really need to make at least one 1.8t break that 550 hp barrier. if your serious about the conversion let me know, i think i have a line on some r32 hardware. also i would be really into helping you along in the project.

What kind of tuning and turbo areyou planning on getting to 550hp? I think i know someone that may be looking for those kind of numbers and have a capable engine to do it.

Budget currently is another story [:@]

Complete = Salvage.

Call around local yards that specialize in 2000 and newer wrecks.

Northeast PA = Kress auto wreckers http://www.wegotused.com/

you best bet is finding a junkyard with a TT/R32 in it. Dont think its going to be to cheap either. Bet the dealer will cost around $7k for a complete long block.
