say for the Greddy Airinx filter...

would this do the job for a 180TT being that it has a 2.75" inlet?

I'd go with the HKS Mushroom style filter.
Get the A4 model. (also a 1.8t and has the 3" inlet)

now I always thought the cover was there to prevent heat soak? Doesnt that defeat the purpose? lol.
Heat soak is for the intercooler, not the intake. The sheild is to make people think your gaining performace fromthe intake sucking in cooler air.... which it doesnt

I already said it in this thread. The 150/170/180 1.8t cars have a 2.75 outer dia and the 225 and vr6 cars have a 3" out dia maf

my old shroom filter, sort of. If you go this route, you should get a ~8" pipe to move the filter to the fender. And yes, it sounded like i could suck in a small child before the sound of the turbo kicked in fully

i asked mr. schwing what size diam. K&N filter he used for the inlet and he used all 3"s. ah well, 1/4 inch should be too big of a problem. i already ordered it anyhow [&:]
