Default Water Pump verification help

So I took my car into the shop and they've told me that the Audi's have a problem with plastic fins in the water pump that don't last long, tend to break and then don't work effectively to cool the cat. I've got 58k miles on mine and they're also telling me that while they're in there is should change the timing belt too. I think that sounds reasonable. But, I wanted to verify the water pump issue.

Thanks in advance for any info.

^^^^ Sad but true Timing belt should be changed @ 60k along with tensioner and waterpump. The metal impeller version is much better than the one that is plastic. They sell kits with everything you need for this maintenance at ECS
