Default What is this hose and how did it come loose?!?

So I installed my boost gauge today and after cleaning up the work area and putting the lower dash back together, I decided to take 'her for a spin around the neighborhood to test everything out. Immediately upon startup of the engine I noticed it was idling extremely rough and almost stalling. Also, I noticed a loud sound which could only be described as air rushing out of something.

I popped the hood again and located the sound. There's a hose near the area around the FPR where I was working that has come disconnected from whatever it was plugged into. It seems as if it's a sensor of some sort. I figured I'd just plug it back in, but for some reason it doesn't want to stay in place. I don't see any clips, or threads or anything like that on it (unless they broke?)

If I push the connector together and start the car, it runs fine until it moves out of place again (which really doesn't take much since it's just resting in there).

Here are some pics. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Here's a closeup of the sensor.

These pics are off my camera phone so sorry if they're a little crude, my digital camera's battery died as I snapped the first (blurry) pic. [:@]

I did happen to buy a bit of clear silicone today at Home Depot for another project, I was thinking of surrounding the connection with it and holding it together until dry.

Thanks guys!!!

it looks like there should be an o-ring on there. If so that should be what keeps it in. Is there room on there where one would fit. Plus siliconing it doesnt sound like a good idea.

Looks great! I put mine in the other middle vent because I didn't want to loose mine. What did you use to mount it?

If you use Modshack's vent ring adapter you still get airflow around the guage correct?

Correct, I used Modshacks vent ring and still get air flow. I just installed it this weekend. I used my vent next to the window though. Looks very clean. Plus he makes them in either silver(like the vent) or in black. Pretty easy once the silicone is dry.

Same here I went with the vent gauge ring adapter, clean install and looks great. Still have airflow also.

so what have done to try to fix your problem? Im not sure what sensor that is but i still wouldnt put silicone on it just because it may screw up the sensor.
