wider rear tires will uncrease understeer, just so you know...
Not just that but it's going to be more costly. You can't rotate your tires so you'll be going through them quicker.

yes you can, you take the tires off the wheels and swap them left/right.
thats how it worked for my FX.

On a TT if you want a staggered setup, you should go wider in the front.

i'm not interested in a staggered setup. i was just curious if 7.5" was wide enough on an 18" wheel to give me any performance benefits over my stock 17s.

well if you're looking to squeeze performance out of wheels you gotta look at 2 things:

Traction increase (wider tire area)
Lower inertia (essetially by lower weight)
You have to look for a compromise here, because naturally, as the wheel is wider, it is heavier.
If you're haveing no traction problems with the current 17x7, stick with 7inch wide, otherwise go 7.5. Eight is overkill IMHO on the stock turbo.
Look for as low of a weight as possible, for 18x7.5 around 20lbs would be pretty good.
personally i'm getting (sometime) some 17x7.5 that weigh ~15lbs.

btw, does anyone have a weight on the stock 17x7 six-spoke?

I just ordered these Enkei's today from Edge Racing.

They are 18"x8.5" @ 21lbs, not too shabby for $170 a wheel. 1200 bucks shipped with tax and toyo tires.

or you can use the calculator

8" wide would fit great. 8.5" will be almost flush in front and will be in the rear with a 10mm spacer.
