Default While my car cools down...

I spose ill ask a semi Noob question. Now that I have the C.A.I. on, I can hear the DV very very well now. I remember asking a while back if the DV should Always flutter or at higher rpms just go PSSSHHHH. Well, mine ONLY does the flutter sound unless I smash the gas to redline (to me, that doesnt seem normal AND even then it's questionable if it'll just go pssh. Usually just a loud flutter). I still havent put the Forge on yet since "Professor, turbo, hot." I've been told OEM DV's have a rubber diaphram which is known to rip? could this be the cause of constant flutter?

Hopefully once I get the Forge on there it will work properly. Heading through an underpass lastnight in victor when I downshifted to third then punched it, the 3-4th shift I could hear just a normal PSSSHH. But thats the Only time it's done it.

This is what I was expecting the OEM one to sound like. However this gives me high hopes for the Forge one now =)

most will flutter with a low amount of boost (~5psi) and be clean over that.

So I finally put the Forge on about 20 minutes ago. I put Only the green spring in there, shimless. What a huge improvement. Drives better, accelerates better. Everything better. OEM valve must have been goofed up since this one sounds just like in the vid I posted. No flutter, clean pssshh sound. Now for the "Tuneing" process.
How will I know if I need to add a shim/different spring into the DV? (I have no boost gauge at this given moment) Is it doable by ear/driving to know if I have got it spot on.

Yes, you want the lowest spring value that does not flutter while under load. However, may I suggest your next mod be a boost guage? They are failry inexpensive and are awesome for trouble shooting other issues if they occur later on.

Yea boost gauge is next on the list. Need to pick a size and find a pod to work with. I don't totally want to lose a vent for a gauge...but eh....Maybe. And Right now there is no flutter at all. I'll add a shim tomorrow when everythings not too hot to handle and see how it goes.
