Default who runs water/meth injection?

Who runs it in their car? What are the pro's or con's on it. What is your experience with it? Any input is greatly appreciated

There are only a couple on THIS forum, but plenty of 1.8t's run it (tons more Evos). There is a section in the BT and HP sticky about it. Let me know if there is still more questions. This topic has been covered many times also

yes I read the sticky. I was just looking for personal experience with it. I just want to know if was worth the price or if they had issues with it. Stuff like that I am just deciding on whether to go with that or a bigger intercooler.

Pros:
increase octane rating - reduces knock
- run more psi if the turbo can flow it
- increased timing
cleans combustion chamber
reduces intake temps
only works when a set psi is reached
-stg2 kits have a on and full setting for better mix

Negatives
tuning/install time
- need to run vag logs and unisettings to increase timing
refill
- depending on bottle size and driving habits can last few weeks to month+

On a stock turbo, you can only really increase psi 1-3psi but most gains are in timing. Worth 15-25whp depending on tuning and turbo. On a larger turbo, much more gains to be made.

Thanks so much cincy you answered all the things I was wondering. Is there anywhere you can go to refill the bottle or can you order it on-line? It's a pain in the *** to install. would it be similar to installing nitrous? I would like to install myself just so I know more about the system rather than pay to have someone else do it.

You can either use distilled water mixed with Heet (basically all meth) from any parts store or some regular ww fluid. Keep in mind the dye may clog the nozzle over time and is only like 25% meth depending on the brand. Dont use the winter stuff.

You need to either tap the piping between the ic and tb or buy a TB spacer from usrallyteam.com. Then just install the pump and tank (unless you plan on using the ww fluid res. Run the power lines and hose. Takes time, but not a HUGE task.

There may be some installs on vwvortex that cover it rather well

Thanks much cincy. One last question can I monitor/tune the water/meth system with vagcom and adjust the timing any other thing that would be important with the system. Also is there a company that you would recommend I only know of snow performance and devils own. Thanks again cincy.

You would run timing advance and pull logs with vagcom and keep advancing timing until you see up to but no more than 6* (or less to be more conservative). Just make sure you have a low level indicator for the fluid so you dont run out which will cause the ecu to pull timing way back. If you go with either of those 2 brands, you will be happy. Snow has a better pump and devils is a little cheaper
