Default Yet Anoter New TT owner.

Yes, Another new guy. I just picked up my 2000 TT 1.8T FWD with 60k miles on it and I'm interested in MODing it. First purchase I made was the Bently Service Manual. Right out the dealer, I've already had to replace the radiator fan and have a small coolant leak on the engine fixed and the cruise control just crapped out last week. Does foam insulation blow out of your A/C? Mine does. Not good. Getting back on track. After I give the car some TLC maintenance work. Where do I begin with MODing it? How much do I spend? (I know that qustion is like asking 'how long is a piece of string', but I need an average... I'm not trying to beat lambos and ferraris)

Any "educational website" links would be much appreciated.

Also, I found an AMD chip in the glove box. Is that an indication that my car's already been chipped?

Thanks.

Another new guy, eh? You guys have been popping outta the wood-work lately... Well, lemme be the first to say "welcome" and don't ask about Altezza tail-lights! (bad things happen)
The mod "to do" list is up to general opinion... everyone does it differently and everyone's car is fast. Most mods you'll see here are:
--Forge DiverterValves
--Intakes
--Coilover lowering springs
--42DD downpipes
--Chipped/flashed ECU (Revo, apr, etc)
--Intercooler upgrades
--Water/Meth injection
--Dual exhaust (depends on preference...clipse)

the list goes on...but those are some of the common performance ones.... just read and learn...you'll find out what you wanna do!

I'm going to go ahead and take a guess that you live some where in Europe.
Congrats on your new purchase! Even though your TT has had a few problems, you've made a great choice!

well, how about that, I found the FAQ and Basic TT Info Post. Someone already thought about that. I heard guys who drive TTs are smarter than most... I'm starting to think it's true.

As for me, I'll be driving my car around hawaii until I scrape up enough money to get these mods done.

^Very well said! LOL!
Don't forget to replace your timing belt, water pump, and tensioner first!
Especially since you're at the magical 60K mark.

i started looking around for a quote... but I think I'll just order the stuff and put it in myself. how hard is it to replace the timing belt pump and tensioner? I replaced my old chevy caprice's water pump before... is to much more complicated than that?
