I'm thinking about shortening my struts 1" so I can slam my car again and ride comfortably.

$25 a strut, it's almost too good to pass up.

Alex and I were chatting about the pros and cons and the biggest issue I can think of is because the ride will be softer and the struts will have more travel, does that mean bottoming out will be even more absurd and I'll end up braking even more stuff? The rebound when slammed, to me, is what does a lot of the damage. Slapping the road once, smoothly, seems better than slapping it a couple times in a jerky motion. Not sure though. Any ideas?

LOL you would pull this shenanigans. How does one go about shortening the struts, chop off the bottom mount and then weld it back on? You think that would provide a better ride than running with the spring perches cranked all the way down?

I'm pretty sure that'd what it entails. I've seen it done before, but that was by someone who had done it before. I would imagine there is little margin for error. Nick were you going to do this yourself, or were you going to have someone else do it?

I was going to have Baby K's Dad do it, he shortened Alex's struts 2" for him.

Chris think about how this works. If have the spring perch sitting low, the strut travel reduces. Raise the perch up and chop off the dead space between the mount and the bottom of the strut and I get strut travel back while still being an inch lower than before.

I'm just worried about the ride being too soft for being about an inch off the ground and then bottoming out even more.
