Why would you do that? Why not fix the problem? If both the brake and ABS come on flashing and then stay solid, its probably your ABS module. Modulemasters.com, based in Idaho, can take that fried thing and refurbish it for cheap! They did mine great!

it is mostly to just get the glare until i can afford to get it replaced so i was just wondering if it was at all possible or even remove a bulb in the dash or something. and is it possible to change the red lighting to blue?

The dash lights, (I think) are all small, soldered in LEDs. Changing them all to blue would be a major pain and there are no quick and easy kits. If you dont have the money to get a module, you dont have the money to change the lights.

Why change 'em? The red was chosen as it is the dimmest light, the one with the lowest amount of visibility. They work fine for the application, even better than most because they dont affect your night vision. Its a symbol of German (over?)engineering. You'll learn to love the effect it gives the car.

i found that its cheaper to get it fixed than i originally thought. for some reasion i was thinkin 1200 or 1400. i dont mind the red but the car is blue and i like the blue the vw has but after looking at the instrument cluster i really dont wat to put forth the effort. thanks for the insight.the only think i saw online were face color changes which supposedly changes the color of the light as well...ever heard of or seen them before

I know what you mean about the blue, but seriously, the red gets so many looks.

remove the cluster and in the back are bulbs that twist off...remove the abs one.

i am with everyone and fix it, but I guess this could be a "temporary fix?"

to remove the cluster, lower the steering wheel..there is a plastic piece above the steering wheel, pop that out. Some hex screws (2 of them), remove those screws then pull the cluster forward.

you may be able to maneuver the cluster without having to remove the plug to access the bulb.

Quicker fix:
electrical tape, small square, over indicator.
