01' a4 quattro dead!

Timing going off wouldn't throw your piston into your plug, likely what happened is your piston hit a valve and broke a chunk off, which ricocheted around inside the cylinder and trashed everything inside. Sounds like you've got three dead cylinders and one possibly good one (most engines I'm familiar with run 170-200). You'll have to pull the head to be sure, but I'm guessing you'll need at *least* new pistons, heads and valves. Worst case you've gouged the cylinder walls, so you'll need a new block (unless the AWM blocks can be bored out and sleeved, I have no idea).

Do NOT purchase a timing belt kit from Blauparts. I made that mistake and the off-label water pump seized which ruined the belt and the head.
As others have pointed out, the engine's timing is critical because the pistons are able to strike the open valves if the sequencing is not correct. Somehow your timing got out of sequence, a valve head likely broke off and damaged the piston and spark plug. The other cyls with zero compression also have bent valves.
Most shops will charge between $4-5000 to repair. I recently completed this work at a cost of $800.

Self Repair
Yes, the $800 total cost was parts for the repair plus $300 to the machine shop that repaired the head. The local Audi dealer will not send the head out for repair and instead sells you a brand new one. I shudder to think of the cost. My local alternative shop offered to do the job for $4,000. I opted out and spent the 10 days or so on the project myself. Seven of those 10 were just waiting for the machine shop to rebuild the head. Since this was my first A4 head job, I think I spent about 20 hrs total time 'under the hood'.

I'm not sure I would be comfortable installing a used head without having it inspected by a machine shop first. I spent close to 20 hrs on R&R and to do it all over again because of a defect in the used head would be too frustrating. The machine shop removed all the valves, replaced the four that were bent and replaced all the seals as well as one lifter. Their total charge was just under $300. I don't know what Audi charges for a new head, but I would guess somewhere in the neighborhood of $2000.
