first off it is a problem having the pistons with marks in them unless they are deigned that way. stock pistons do not have those marks. what happens is those spots will become hot, hence why they call them hot spots. sometimes they can be fixed. but thats a whole other issue you should have brought up along time ago. your timing marks line up great. no problem there. and even if the valves were way off youd at least get a couple psi which leads me to believe you are compression testing incorrectly. exactly how are you doing this?

ps. the only way to tell if the valves are bent if it isnt completely obvious is to compression check the head which youd have to bring into a machine shop for

I'm not compression testing incorrectly b/c I tested it the same way on my 01 a4 1.8t minutes after trying it on the 1.8t I'm working on to make sure the gauge wasn't broken or something and i got 180 on all four. I'm taking the spark plug out, screwing the gauge in and cranking the car over until it reads compression, which the gauge never even attempts to move. The marks on the pistons would still not cause the car to start and have zero compression correct? Also the head is under warranty still so I can just return it and get another one.

UPDATE: So i just found out today that the cam tensioner is not moving up and down like it is supposed to. This would cause 0 compression correct? Also would this mean that the cam tensioner needs replaced or could it possibly mean that I possibly installed the tensior incorrectly,which I don't think I did but is it even a possibility? It's actually a weird problem because the one time I had the tensioner and everything on and tries to rotate the engine at the crank the intake cam for some reason wouldn't move but the tensioner started moving up but wouldn't continue moving since for some reason the intake cam wouldn't move. So i took everything off and put it back on again. This time the engine turns fine and both cams turn but the tensioner won't move at all. I don't know I'm stumped, any ideas?? Thanks
