I thought the PES s/c was only for the 30v. But even with the port and polish you'll still have the fastest 12v this side of Germany.

What kind of performance gains do you think I could attain with port polish CAI exhaust and possibly a throttle body on the 12v?

Thanks guys

ghost6303 10-24-2008 03:40 PM

maybe 20 horsepower... if that much.

airguard350 10-24-2008 05:41 PM

^ Better than nothing.

at $400 per horsepower it is hardly a worthwhile mod unless you have nothing better to do with money

20 hp for port polished heads,Cold air intake, exhaust and possibly a throttle body on the 12v? That seems weak. How could I only get that when I replaced the entire exhaust including cats, muffler, piping all the way back with 3" - wow I feel jipped : (

400 dollars per horsepower? It would cost $8,000 to do those mods? And only 20 hp? Can anyone verify this?

lol 400 bucks is a gross exageration. i didnt take the time to actualy do the math... but here you go.

say you get a port and polish, that costs $400 bucks per head depending on what you have done, nets you 20hp. 10 hours of labor to remove and install both heads. say a very low ball $50 an hour, thats $500. cold air intake- $100 (you gain zero hp from this btw). exhaust- if you go with a magniflow muffler ($100 for the muffler and $350 for the pipes, gain another 20hp maybe).

thats 800+500+100+450=$1850 for 40 hp

$1850/40hp = $46.25 per hp. thats pretty high.

Ok, I understand, but - Due to a blown head gasket, I have the heads off - I have a full exhaust system on the car right now - So what would have to be done would be - buy the CAI - buy the throttle body - and have the heads ported and polished - All the install work for the heads throttle body and CAI will be done by myself and friends at no cost - I may have to get it timed or w/e but I would have to do that regardless because the heads are off right now - so $800 dollars for the port and polish $100 a throttle body www.tap1.com $295.00 said to be good for 8hp Exhaust already installed - $1195.00/48hp = 24.90 per hp - it may be high relative to other cars but it is what I will pay to have

im not a 2.8 kinda guy but i wasnt aware you can change out throttle bodies without adjusting your software accordingly. and im always skeptical when sites like that claim HP gains on products like that without dyno sheets to back it up. most intake sites you find claim "adds 20hp" or some garbage when in reality it adds almost zero.

if you have alot of the stuff already and its not extra labor then go for it. might as well get some cams and maybe some water/meth injection, tune it right you can get a decent amount of power. port work doesnt add much power on its own but when you pair that with other mods you can get decent gains.
