1997 A4 1.8T - idle control valve?
Hi,
Does the '97 A4 1.8T have an idle control valve? I've searched the forums, but only see info on the 2.8 engine.
My A4 won't idle unless I manually give it some throttle. Previous to this problem, and for as long as I can remember, the idle would drop to ~500 then return to ~900 when returning to idle...even if the throttle is pressed slightly, revving it to 1100.
Thanks!

Had an idea: remove the intake boot to the manifold and spray the throttle blade with some carb/choke cleaner. Engine off. Move the butterfly the full 90 degrees and spray so it's clean on both sides. It's gonna start pretty hard once you get it running, I would still rather run it though tho, be sure to get a cleaner that's safe for o2 sensors.

Thanks for the info. On slight difference in symptom: in my case, the idle isn't erratic, it's that the engine simply won't idle unless it's given some throttle.
Will cleaning the TB address the "no idle" condition, or should I be looking at something else? I'll actually find out tonight... after I clean the TB....
