1997 A4 2.6 Quattro Manual - Starting Problem
Hello -
I have an intermittentproblem starting my A4 (model 1997 2.6 Quattro Manual Sedan). There is a problem with the ignition switch in that it doesn't flick back and required to be turned back manually but I don't think this is part of the problem.
Essentially the car turns over and appears as it will catch and then it just stops. This may occur 1,2 ... 5, .. 10 times before it finally starts. It occurs mostly when cold but also when warm. It appears to occur more when the car has it's nose pointed slightly uphill but this isn't always the case.
Not being much of a mechanic my thoughts are that perhaps its a fuel pump or fuel line issue in that the engine sparks and it's not a battery issue.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
-Scott.

sounds like a fuel primming issue...does this happen when the car is warm, like when you go to the store and leave 30 minutes later is starts right up, but when the car sits for a couple/few hours it wont

Thanks all for the quick reply! I have called Audi in regards to the recall and apparently that only applied for North America, not the poor cousins down here in Aus. Looks like it's going to be an expensive exercise finding out
