Default 1997 a4 2.8 quattro manual question

Hi all, Hoping someone can help me out. I hear a thud when shifting into first unless I ease off the clutch slowly. Anyone have any idea how to fix this or what could be causing the problem? Thanks

Please be a little more specific, that description sounds like your mounts are bad, but i can't tell from what your describing.
Check you tranny mounts, motor mounts, and snub mount.
Un-less your down shifting into first which you should never do anyway, then you deserve a broken tranny mount.

Check your snub mount at the bottom of the radiator on the passengerside. My car started doing that too and when I checked the snub, I found that it is in 2 pieces and making almost no contact with any metal. I ordered my new one this week.
