Default 1998 2.8L 5 speed transmission problem

I have the slightest clue about transmissions let alone an Audi transmission lol so here's what is going on, the car starts and everything no problem, the transmission will shift into each individual gears (all 6) but it wont engage into any. meaning it wont move at all, no rpm lose. I can hear it trying to grab the gears but it wont, I don't know what to do guys! HELP! I don't know if I need to replace it, have it rebuilt, or even something dumb like just flushing the fluid but I do know it is suppose to be life time, well up to about 100k. help will be very appreciated!

Is there a way I could test that? I also called around and heard a few times that it could be the clutch, so do you think it's safe to say the transmission is not going to need replaced?

You don't really know what your dealing with till you pull the transmission. You may think something has failed, which it probably has, only to find out other parts have also failed.

Yes, the five speed, I've been told it's the clutch a couple times but the car starts, and you have to push the clutch in to start it

Clutch pedal has a switch to let it start and cancel cruise.
Sounds like clutch but may want to verify no axles are spinning and not the wheels (cv joint)

When in gear and you release the clutch, do you feel, hear anything at all? Do you FEEL it going INTO gear? Any NOISE at all when you let off the clutch or push the clutch in?

If the center hub has broken out of the disc, it will act this way as well.

When it's in gear, clutch released and off, does it roll?

Have you checked the brake fluid container? Under it is the fluid for the clutch?

It could also be the center of the clutch plate has torn out (but you'd still FEEL or notice something), otherwise probably the transmission input shaft is broken...just my 2 cents...

Actually I just looked into it and when I put it into a gear and let off the clutch slowly the rpms dropped slightly, I can tell it try's to engage into gear, there's no movement at all when during this either, I was told the clutch was replaced along with the master slave cylinder, but he said they may not have been put in correctly, but I'll check the fluid also tomorrow, thanks guys! Anymore input is greatly appreciated!

Also I was told that the cylinder was bleed to make sure there was no air in the clutch and also when the car is started you can put it in the gears without the clutch being pushed down but still no movement and it's also very sloppy in gears
