Default 1998 A4 1.8T Quattro, fuel pump removal

Hello all,

I'm looking for a good guide to help me get the fuel pump out of my 1998 A4. I've searched these forums, but haven't been able to find anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

DIY: Changing the Fuel Pump to an A4 Audi | eHow.com

But instead of their Step 1, I would pull the fuel pump fuse while the engine is idling to remove pressure from the fuel lines (look in your Owner's Manual for the fuse diagram).

I have a 98 a4 quattro 1.8t and the fuel pump was in the trunk, right corner next to the passenger seats. It wasn't located under the passenger seats.

So,if you don't find it under the seats look in the trunk.

I agree. My car is FWD though, not Quattro, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks guys, I found the fuel pump (in the trunk), and have successfully replaced it. However, my troubles aren't over yet, but moving that to a different topic.

does it crank like it wants to turn over or just nothing? if it cranks but wont start check for any leaks in the vacum lines. also touch or listen to ur fuel pump relay if it clicks while u crank over the car. fuel pump relay is under dash, under steering wheel its fuse number 287 i think.
