ok this is my buddies front track 2.8 he was driving it the car turned off on the free way than he pulled over started the car and the car would not move at all in any gears its a Auto

 

any CEL's? could be any number of things. Did he hear any noises when it happened? I gather that it starts and moves smoothly into all gears, but doesn't move, is that right?

I bet his rear wheels got pissed at the front wheels because they were the only ones that could actually move themselves, so the rear wheels cut all power to them. I've heard this happen multiple times in non quattro audis. It's a shame really.

 

Awh, I bet they feel left out

 

check the front axles first. i know for a fact that if any of the axles are out of their socket on the quattro, the car won't move. are there any sounds or does the engine run funny? also lift up each corner, put the car on neutral and try to spin the wheel

 

both of them..i guess its very possible
