Default 1998 Audi A4 2.8Q Questions

I have the chance to pick up a 1998 Audi A4 2.8Q

Price - 6,250
Miles - 89,750

Ths car has had the timing belt, water pump, and thermastate done. The car drove and looked in mint condition however after reading the reviews on Edmunds.com i'm somewhat concerned about buying this car.

Problems: I noticed that when the Mph beep went off that the center display did not show the entire image... Also the airbag light was on, when I asked the owner about this he said that the drivers set mechanism broke and his mechanic removed the seat welded the join and when he put it back in the light came on. He also stated that when hitched upto the computer this light should turn off.

Everything else with the car seemed mint, sounded great, drove well, and looked amazing.

I need to know though because of the year and the huge list of issues known to happed with these cars am I getting a good deal or letting this german machine invade my wallet?

Thank you all for your help, this would be my first Audi.

first of all edmunds.com is a POS. the airbag light is probably the harness under the driver's seat that isn't connected all the way. all you gotta do is ziptie it together and clear the light. the cluster problem is common. it can be replaced but it's expensive. you can't really tell if this car will harry potter your money away because like any other used car, you're taking a risk unless you know the person who is selling it
