I would say the most desirable one is the 1999.5 since it still has the AEB engine but it has the facelift goodies.

I thought full size mirrors started in 99.0? There are too many threads about this.

I'd take a 2000+ since I could use a MAFless tune and swap an AEB head onto it.

If you just want a DD and to do mild mods it really doesn't matter much... just test drive a couple and see which interior/aesthetics you like better.


and no, the full size mirrors were a 99.5 addition. nemo mirrors ftw.

I just looked it up, 99.0 started the full size passenger mirror.

what is special about aeb head? or is that for the 1.8?

larger ports, and yeah it's the 1.8t. the aeb engine also came with 20mm wrist pins instead of 19mm.

hmm interesting... maybe i should swap heads of the 30v 2.8 onto my 12v 2.8 haha

You'll need a new cam but it's possible. Might as well just swap in a VR6 or see if you can use 12v VR6 parts on your Audi car.
