Default 1999 A4 Avant will not stay running. I Have VAG-COM, Need Help!

I have a 99 A4 avant. 1.8t AEB engine. The car starts but will not stay running. I bought a new maf on ebay and it does the same thing. Im not sure where to go from here. It is not throwing any codes with vag-com. Even if I put my foot on the gas it still will just chug for a couple seconds then die.

However if I unplug the MAF the car will idle. Is there anyway to check MAF with vagcom. Maybe i bought a bad one? Or could it be something else?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

will the car stay on if you repeatedly tap the gas pedal?

I can keep it running for about 10 seconds if I keep taping the gas but starts to back fiire and runs terrible. after about 10 secs it just dies.

sounds similar to what was happening to mine, I was able to keep it running as long as I tapped the gas and a cel came up eventually. my problem ended up being both the maf and throttle body. I don't know any details on testing/resetting the throttle body with vag com but you can do some things with it. maybe it just needs to be cleaned like mine

exactly what my car is doing. Gonna change my MAF and hope that fixes it. I had a P0102 code though. From the searching i've done everyone says check for vaccum leaks and check your wiring also changing the MAF but since you did that i would try the other 2.

Make SURE you do a good TBA with vag com after cleaning your TB

Also check your lower measuring blocks in Vag com to make sure all of your sensors are reading accurately.
