AUDI 1999.5/ A-4, V-6. (Battery died and now Audi will NOT stay running
Hello Experts,
I have a 199.5 Audi A-4 Quatro/ trip tronic with a v-6/ 2.8.
The battery died last eve, I believe due to me leaving its lights on. Today, I did get it jump started right away; however; the car will NOT stay running.
Any ideas?? (THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP OR THOUGHTS YOU HAVE!!)
p.s.- I have heard form an Audi mechanic I should trick the cars computer by unplugging the positive and negative cables from the battery, and simply putting them together for 30 seconds while the car is off. This should restart the computer to allow the car to let the vehicle STAY RUNNING; once it is started.

THANK YOU! ......JINXONATOR: your picture in your profile looks just like my 1999.9 A-4. I appreciate it. The only thing I was unclear of is to keep the key in the on position or off; but I assume on to reset the cables/ computer code.
Thanks again for your thoughts.

When you are disconnecting the cables i would keep the ignition off, but to my knowledge, turn the key after the cables are off the battery. It is one thing to try and reset the CPU, it is another to short the CPU. Sometimes when the battery dies the MAF is reset, which causes the engine to run rough for the first 5 minutes of warming up. Please let me know how it goes, as its always nice to hear how things turn out.
