+2....there really is no point in downshifting into first...I usually shift OUT of first at 5 mph...I hate first gear lol. I have a 96 2.8, my favorite gear is 2nd, doesn't hit 6k rpms until around 40mph. Just to reiterate what everyone is saying you don't have a problem, and I can't imagine any situation where it is beneficial to downshnift from second gear. You can start from a dead stop in second and still have a decent amount of power (but obviously not as much as starting from first).

 

i agree, my a4 does the same thing and i have noticed that in other cars as well

 

wait are you really serious? i thought at first your were being sarcastic or somthing but no, no it really is suposed to do that. have you not driving stick for long or what? liek everyone has said its there to prevent you from slamin it into first goin 60, or mostly any other speed above stoped unless the rev's are close to matching your current speed. sorry but no your cars fine dont listen to anyone that says its not suposed to do that.
