2.5 V6tdi Quattro. Buying advice needed!
Morning all, I'm new here,.only initially joined to get some advice however will most likely be on here more often in the next couple of weeks.
I'm looking at buying a b5 avant, mainly the 2.5 V6 due to the 4wd and high spec you get with them.
I was quite keen on a particular car I found on autotrader which sounds a bit good to.be true. It's an auto with the multitronic gearbox with full leather etc etc. It's only £1650 which I thought was a bit cheap for the amount of car you get?
Also I've been told that the fuel pumps can go and cam shafts are known to wear out.
Can anyone give any advice on buying one and also confirm the engine/general issues we tend to find with these cars/engines.
Many thanks for any help
Tom

Well, like with every car, things break. I personally believe if it wasn't for all the electronics in our Audis, they would be SOLID machines. They are good car's and 1650 isn't too much, although I must ask how many miles or kilometers on the odometer?
From what I understand its a 2.6 diesel, correct?
I am no expert but my dad used to tell me that with any diesel motor you perform tune ups more often than with a gasoline motor. He also said if maintained properly from the start, you can go miles and miles on the diesel motor and she'll server you forever.

Thanks for you're reply Kamil, its the 2.5 V6 diesel I'm looking at, the car I mentioned in my original post actually sold but there is another I'm interested in now!
I too was under the impression that diesels handled the miles easily and would go on and on.
Does anyone have any specific pointers for me regarding the 2.5 V6 model B5s?

I don't know how true this is, but I've heard some talk about the 2.5 TDIs having serious valvetrain issues. Since this is mostly a North America centred forum you won't get much information on diesels since we only got the 1.9 TDI on like 3 years of the Passat, never even heard of the 2.5 until recently.
