I have had the exact same issue, though my car is a 99. I scanned it and scanner saod I had a misfire at cylinder 1. I had the spark pligs changes about 6 months ago so I was almost certain it was the ignition coil (dont know if your car has the coils) so got a new one at autozone ($70 each) and swapped it then test drove it and it ran better than before. & ive driven my car a good 8 miles at 40mph without making anything worse.
