Default 2.8 Exhaust Upgrade / Complete Overhaul - What should I do?

Alright, before we start I know my 2.8 will always be slow and I should prolly get a 1.8t.

Here's what I want: I'm lookin to swap my stock sound for more impressive and powerful sounding. However I can't stress enough I don't want loud. I'm looking for classy and powerful. Milltek? Remus? I've heard the Magnaflow 14815 and I think it sounds pretty decent? is there better?

Obviously it'd be really nice if I could add some power at the same time. Will putting custom headers/new piping add noticable power?

What should I do? New piping + stock muff? new pipes + new muff? gtfo?

I don't think headers are worth the time or money for a 2.8. I would say go with the Magnaflow 14815 with custom tubes, now....to resonate, or not to resonate, thats the question

Probably resonated - he doesn't want loud. The 14815 with resonators sounds deep and ballsy but not obnoxious. From what I can tell online (I haven't heard it in person) the unresonated setup is going to be too loud for what he wants.

would the stock resonator do the trick? or you think an aftermarket one, if there is such a thing?

OEM resonator is fine - just get the muffler and have it welded on after the resonator and you'll be good to go. Won't be ridiculously loud (although it will be louder and deeper than stock), and it'll sound really good. Search YouTube for "Audi Magnaflow 14815" and skim through the videos to find some that are on a 2.8. It sounds great.

Thanks guys - that's exactly what I wanted to know. Glad I didn't waste money with new headers and all sorts of crap

Waita minute what's all this business about mid muffler delete? Is that refering to the resonator?

Yeah i would assume thats some kind of reference to the resonator. I've been under my 2.8 several times and haven't seen anything except the cats, flexpipe, muffler and resonator.
Maybe "mid muffler" is some kinda mod where you gut the stock muffler? Not sure why you'd do that anyway lol.

I think it is referring to the stock muffler. You can gut it or the resonator. If your county doesn't do emissions testing, then it's "legal". They only care if it or an aftermarket equivalent is on. Just cut a hole in the top of the muffler, take a thick metal rod (i.e. re-bar) and knock all the baffles and other crap out, then weld the piece you cut out back in. If there's fiberglass packing inside, dump some oil in it and drive the car around; the packing should be burned out in about a month or so depending on how much driving you do.
