Default 2.8 hard start

'99 A6 Avant 2.8QT - Hard start hot but always starts when cold. I have p0118 [coolant temp sensor voltage high] code stored but light is off and on, hard to start either way. From reading other posts it looks like fix may be as easy as replacing temp sensor, just wondering if anyone has done this and fixed hard starting problem. Or do I have two seperate problems here? I know coolant temp sensor is bad because sometimes temp drops all the way to cold while driving, but I don't have any other driveability problems. All help appreciated.
I'll probably replace temp sensor this weekend, I'll post whether or not it fixes problem.

Your coolant temp sensor causes this problem. If it's telling you that code then its a good bet. On the 2.8 they are a little pita on the back part of the engine. Make sure to get the green one I believe. Ecs tuning.
Oh...Wrong forum chucky .
