Someone is selling a 2.8 with 150xxx on the clock and is having a few problems with the engine. It runs fine, but when sitting in traffic it dies. I am quoting the owner here, "Basically the car runs but occasionally turns off at stoplights and likewise loses torque for a few seconds at a time a couple times an hour."
Guy selling it claims a mechanic told him it could be a cat or an o2 sensor.

Beyond the info i provided, i dont know anything else. However, if you guys think that is the problem, i am going to jump on this sucker. 2500 bucks with a perfect interior for my 1.8t lolololol

 

Possibly a throttle alignment issue too. Can you scan it first to see if there are any pending codes?

 

+1 on the TBA. If it was a CAT or 02, there'd be a CEL.

 

are tba's common on b5's? what are the symptoms and how to fix it?

 

I have the cable and vcds lite. I dont think i can get a good scan cuz it wont for my current a4... There isnt a check engine light but i would LOVE to scan it. I'm gonna dig around and see if i can find a local with the full software. Lol I wonder if the guy will let me pull the plugs
