considering rebuilding my 2.8 afc 12valve motor looking for performance mods and what is the most power that can be achieved without sacrificing reliability

 

if you searched you would have found the answer- sell it and buy a 1.8t
there are no performance mods for the 12v
theres one performance mod for a 30v, thats a supercharger.

im not saying its not a nice car. i had a briliant black 97 2.8 before my current car and i loved that car too.

if you want to be able to tow a horse trailer, dont buy a civic. if you want to go fast and mod your car, dont buy a 2.8.

Why are you rebuilding the engine? I'd consider a VR6 swap before rebuilding a 12V.

 

No joke, a rebuild for that engine is most likley the worst waste of money in the automotive world unless you are given all the parts for free and you just love to wrench for the sake of wrenching.

bought it at an insurance auction for 500 bucks and the previous owner hit something that busted the oil panand now the motor has a bad knock with low oil pressure so I haven't decided to fix it to drive or sell

 

the body and interior re in good shape
