Default 2000 1.8t slipping out of gear

Recently my 2000 a4 1.8t quattro been slipping out of gear. It happends when i acelerate moderate- hard. Never when i ease on the gas. It occurs around the same rpm everytime when it hits around 3000rpm it will slip out of gear rev like it was in neutral, ill let off the gas itll catch again with a thud. I had the clutch replaced around 56000 miles and i now have 87000 miles on it. so not sure why the clutch would be bad already. Also it has been very cold recently... Any thoughts??

that wouldn't be a clutch issue, have you been beating on the transmission like crazy?

flush the fluid. If that doesn't fix it, you have bigger problems.

(different car, same issue)

It sounds like your transmission is shot. You can try changing the fluid but this being a manual transmission, i don't think it will make any difference. It does seem a bit strange though. Other than broken teeth, these manual transmissions seem to be trouble free.

I know you said it feel like its in neutral but when the engine revs, does it feel like its pulling the car along at all? or is it straight up nothing?

If its still pulling a bit it may only be the clutch. You said when you let off the gas it would go back into gear. Usually when the transmission starts to go bad the shifter will actually pop out of gear into neutral and you would have to put it back into gear.

Also, is there any grinding noises when this happens?

No theres no grinding noise. Also I heard something from a friend about an auto adjusting clutch, that our cars have. Is this true? and if so could it fix its self?

Exactly.

If it pops out of gear then it is a transmission issue, if the rpms just shoot up and then catch again when you let off the throttle then it is a clutch issue.

No our cars down come with a Self Adjusting Clutch, that would be the stock RS4 clutch and is something you dont want since it tends to fail.

Just sounds like you need a new clutch.
