2000 audi a4 main power relay
I am having trouble finding this relay. J271 or #30. I have looked in the ECU box and under the dash and I cant find it. I have a 2000 audi a4 2.8 quattro engine code ATQ. I have looked everywhere for this location but it is not where people and text say it is.
Cheers!

I will look again. I took the cover off under the steering wheel and i found those relays but i did not see the one i am looking for. Is it still number 30? I found all the diagrams for the relays but nothing conclusive. Thank you

Just went out and looked again. I took the ecu out for a 2nd time and looked under the steering column and there is no relay #30 or that doesnt belong to something else. s it possible that this relay is a different shape or size? I am lost here. I have searched the net for going on 4 days now. Plenty have said they have found it in various places but nobody gives a number or exact location. i have looked 3 times in my car for this. Both my 98 and 2000 a4 do not have this relay in sight. What does J363 relate to? J271 or J363????
Cheers

I'm confused, is what you're looking for a fuse? My fuse box is on the far left of my dash (FAR left). Open the driver door and take off the little bean shaped panel that gets exposed when you open the door all the way. There's the panel. (note: I have a 99 so this may be in a different place on yours - like under the steering column cover).
The relays on mine were in the ECU box. Not sure why you're "taking the ECU out", you just need to take the cover off the box to see both the ECU and the relay locations.
Anyway if you haven't yet found this in your search, it may be helpful:
Audi Workshop Manuals > A4 Mk1 > Power unit > Motronic injection and ignition system (4-cyl. turbo) > Ignition system, glow plug system > Testing ignition system > Testing Motronic current supply relay -J271 - Vehicles from model year 2000 onwards

Some posts have suggested that the relay is underneath the ecu. Some posts suggest that it is under the dash. I am looking for the ECU main power relay on a 2000 audi a4 2.8 quattro. engine code ATQ part location and number is J271 or J363. Bentley and many say it is the ecu box relay number 30. The only relay in the ecu or e-box is #373. That is for the SAI. I have no Number 30 relay under the dash either. This is a USA audi. I have a 98 and a 2000. This goes for both cars. I am lost i have looked everywhere. Is it another number under the dash?

So you're in the same boat as these guys? ecu relay HELP
Yours looks like the first picture as well? Not the second.
...Well the first picture except WITH the 373 SAI relay...

I dunno man sorry. Everywhere I search either says it's right there next to the ECU or finds someone like you saying it can't be found.
Makes me think it's either labeled differently or your year is wired different.

Update. I called 2 dealerships and they don't have any info either. No location just a part number. 165 906 381 #30. Unless it is hidden deep within the bowels of this car under layers of plastic metal and carpet it doesn't exist. I have checked both footwells, inside the glove box, under the dash and in the e-box. WTF!!!
