Default 2001 a4 2.8 quattro manual

My ABS and Brake pad warning keep showing up and then going away. I'm a fast driver so i dont know if that has anything to do with it but when im on the highway for more than 10 minutes going at a constant 80-100mph, those show up. Should i get new brakes or does it just caution me to slow down. please tell me any info you know on this!! thanks.
