Ok theoretically can it be done? Yes..... Now my main question is can it be done as a direct swap? Like would I have to change out wiring or anything on the car? Are they the same blocks just different heads or what? And has anyone done this yet and if so did u have any issues.... Thanks

No... 30v is meant to have VVTi and such.

 

Well I understand that, and I know there is gonna be some wiring and prolly ecu swap needs to be done as well... But PHYSICALLY can the 30v head bolt onto the block without any issues

 

I know the engines themselves are different sizes, but apart from that, I don't know. I would not assume so.

 

they are both 2.8 so how are they different sizes??

that thread was worthless, it basically told the guy with an audi 100 not a4 that the 30v uses a different tranny than the 12v and it wont fit in his A100... can someone else help me out on this

 

Well, I figured it sufficiently demonstrated that they're not the same engine, you know? But hey, I haven't tried it. Maybe you'll luck out and someone has.
