Default the 3rd button.

im just wondering how hard it is to make that third button next to the fog lights functional. i havent had the dash off so i never got a look back there. how much work would be involved in making that a real button.

Pretty easy, but what would you want to put there? Thats where the traction control button is for cars equipped with it.

yeah well if it is the button I'm thinking of, that is where the seat warmers go and I would never give those up, I'd just put t on the other side of the car.

No i think the 12v setup is different i know on my 01 the Seat warmers is a dial. There is a blank button next to the front/rear fogs.

IMO but the pretty 99 interior looks cheap and shitty. 01 For the Win...

There's nothing behind it. I guess you could run wires behind it.
The first 10 seconds of this video shows how to get that panel off (just pry). The rest of it is how to remove a flasher unit.

At 49 seconds, I knocked the blank out, so you can see it comes out easily.

You'll have to get a button from another Audi to use - those aren't buttons themselves, they're just snapped-on, blank plastic pieces that look like the switches, but there's no mechanism or electronics behind them. Josh is showing you how to knock them out of there, and then you can get another switch (like a foglight switch) from another Audi and install it there, run your wires as necessary, and add the feature you desire to your car.
