You still don't know??? Don't you own a jack? You would be looking for a chunk of oil saturated metal on the ground (or belly pan if you still have one) and a hole in the engine.

I do own a jack, but im not a big fan of going outside when its 5 degrees out looking for it. In the dark. Id look but frankly, i woudlnt be knowing what to look for. I put the car in N today and moved it to shovel up the 5 quarts of oil, but i didnt find any metal anywhere.

Yeah I guess it doesn't really matter. From all that you've described Id say there is a 99.5% chance that you have a hole in the side of your block.

At the same time, you probably could swap in another motor - a 12v engine is seriously inexpensive. If you can do part or all of the work, you could have your car back on the road for not a lot of money.

but its probably not going to warm up in ME for another 2 months atleast and it sounds like he doesnt have a garage. an engine swap would be cheap but no fun this time of the year outside.

It'll probably be longer than that. I understand about no garage and that sucks, but there's always the hope that a friend somewhere may be able to donate garage space for a weekend.

Call shokan and have them send you a used engine, screw parting out cars, i have had my fair share of doing that and its just not fun unless you are a reputable autowrecker. I would agree with onepoint8tee, starting any engine with that temp that doesn't have a block heater isn't a good idea.
