Default 5hp19 automatic transmission leakage from bad bearing by torque converter

OK I might go get some pictures if I have to but my transmission leaks from the front when warm so I pulled it out and couldn't get the torque converter out. It was stuck so I pried and slide hammered till it came loose. The converter shaft is worn and after taking the front seal out the thrust triangle piece also was removed easily. In there was a completely circular bearing ring that was freely moving. seems this is part of the rear pump assembly? I'm confused, just need to fix the minimum to prevent leakage. shifts like brand new and its been flushed every 30k. Also surprisingly only made noise when it was run real low on fluid.

If this was a 700r4 I would replace the front pump, but it seems this is a 2 piece pump or something. Someone please help me out. Thanks. Alldata, google, dealership, isn't helping me.

1998 Audi A4 avant quattro 5hp19. Thanks.

You wouldn't be able to get that from anyone but ZF, the manufacturer. Never heard of anyone who parted out an auto tranny. Most people just buy a used lower mileage tranny.

wtf is this audi b/s? The front pump is bad why do I have to waste the whole transmission and my paychecks? if it's such a common problem why the **** does someone not sell front pumps? you can not tell me between all the bmws, jags, and audis that go bad that no one sells replacment parts for this 5hp19 transmission. im calling transtar and other tranny places Monday morning, but I'm astonished I can't just find one online.

It's not a common problem. The tranny obviously ran dry and the pump burnt out. The demand is so low that it's not cost effective for anyone to build or stock them for resale. If the pump ran dry long enough to kill it, I would imagine that there is other damage done that you wont find out about until you get it going. Which is why most people just replace the whole tranny.

I have a Porsche Boxster MY03 Tiptronic 5HP19 tranny
parts are available for the ZF 5HP19, I had the same problem with my tranny a year ago
and I had to replace the front pump, I purchased the front pump from a tranny shop in san mateo cali., which he had the only pump laying around,

but you can also get the parts individually from these guys

http://jie.com/

they are very helpful and they can ship to you any way you like. and you can ask them tech questions if you get stuck.
I am going thru this problem again (I guess it is the way I drive the thing) but not the extent of the first time ( meaning I don't have to replace the front pump this time, thank God), probably and most likely i have to have someone work on the TC.

If you have any questions you can e-mail me.
Good Luck
