if I'm on the highway in 5th gear doing about 60 mph, my tach says just about 3000 rpms. Does that seem right? It seems high to me but my friend says it's because it's a little motor so it's always pumping hard and that it revs high. It's a 1.8t btw.

 

That should be about right. My 30v V6 tachs 3000RPM at 70mph, and I think the 1.8T is a little shorter-geared so that'd be about right. I'll wait for a 1.8T guy to chime in though.

 

thats a little high. i have the 2.8 and i am at 2k rpms when driving 60mph. i get around 3k rpms when driving in 4th gear at that speed so idk :P

 

It's about right for the 1.8t

 

I have an AEB 1.8t, it's around that for me.. Also, I find that my Mileage is pretty awful.
It took almost 1/2 tank to do 200 KM on a highway.. Ishh... LOLLL

 

That seems about the same as my 1.8t, I'll confirm later after I've gone for a drive.

it is correct. i do around 3200 at 70mph.

 

so today i checked and i can do around 80mph at 3k rpms. now i am kinda glad that i own a 2.8 because 3k at 65 is ridiculous.

 

We've discussed this before that the reason it's so high in 5th gear to to keep the turbo from spooling while cruising... I think I don't remember tho.
